Professional basketballers are gifted and talented at what they do, but sometimes, things can get a little crazy – and by that we mean the athletes themselves. You have the MVPs that say the darndest things, the ones with interesting antics on and off court, and a select few who acted in ways that still remain a mystery to sane people.

Don’t believe us? Just take a look at this list below of some of the craziest players in basketball history.

Gilbert Arenas – Outrageous spending, and a gun issue

Ever since he signed a six-year, $111 million deal with the Wizards in 2008, Gilbert Arenas’ spendings include visiting a car wash that costs $675, and paying $8,000 for a Mercedes-Benz electric toy car. He also has pet sharks in a personalised tank that are quite costly: $5,000 a month to feed them and $1,500 for a keeper to drive from Columbus to care of them. We should also mention that apart from his lavish spendings, Arenas is also known for writing blog posts about his gun incident with Javaris Crittenton.

Latrell Sprewell – ‘I got a family to feed’

The term ‘I got a family to feed’ of course can be a real issue for some people – but not when you were offered a three-year, $21 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Latrell Sprewell rejected said offer, at that time saying: “I have a family to feed … If (team owner Glen) Taylor wants to see my family fed, he better cough up some money. Otherwise, you’re going to see these kids in one of those Sally Struthers commercials (where she solicits donations for starving children in developing countries) soon.”

Ron Artest – Fashion statements with his underwear and bathrobe

While best remembered for the infamous “Malice at the Palace,” Ron Artest is also the same player who showed up late for a team bus to a playoff Game 7 wearing only his underwear. He also once showed up to a Pacers practice wearing only a bathrobe. Plus, there was also his ill-fated rap career, where he changed his last name to “World Peace.”

Kevin Garnett – WTF is he even saying?

Despite the behaviour of some A listers during interviews being questionable, the antics of others can be entertaining to watch – and Kevin Garnett is just that. The NBA star has a hobby for giving insane interviews, like the one where he kept yelling “bar fight!” over and over before remembering he was being interviewed.
